East Mebon

The East Mebon Temple is a stunning 10th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, built by King Rajendravarman. Located on an artificial island in the now-dry East Baray reservoir, this temple offers a unique blend of history and architecture.

What I loved:

  • Stunning Architecture – The temple features impressive brick and laterite towers, intricate carvings, and well-preserved elephant statues at each corner.
  • Less Crowded – Unlike Angkor Wat or Bayon, East Mebon is quieter, allowing for a peaceful exploration.
    Things to note:
🔸 The temple is part of the Angkor Pass (included in the 1-day, 3-day, or 7-day ticket).
🔸 Some structures are weathered, but the grandeur of its design still shines through.
🔸 Best visited as part of the “Grand Circuit” tour, along with Pre Rup and Ta Som.Final Thoughts:
  • If you love history and want to explore beyond the main Angkor temples, East Mebon is a must-visit. Its serene atmosphere and beautiful ruins make it a rewarding stop!
